Esh, trying to play Spellborn has once again highlighted how crap my PC is, it ran ok to start with, but now i'm in more populated areas, its just not cutting it and making the game pretty much, well - not 'unplayable' but very unenjoyable.
So, i finally bit the bullet and started shopping around for a new PC. After much shopping around i have just placed an order to get the following rig built :
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Power Supply: Silverpower 850W PSU Processor: Core i7 920 8MB Cache Socket 1366 CPU Cooler: Thermalright Ultra 120 Graphics Card 1: Zotac GeForce GTX 275 896MB PCIe 2.0 Graphics Card 2: Zotac GeForce GTX 275 896MB PCIe 2.0 Memory: 6GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz C9 Triple Channel Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58 UDR3 Socket 1366 Hard Disk Drive One: 500GB Caviar SE16 SATA 300 Optical Drive One: DVD-Rom x16 Optical Drive Two: DVD-RW 20x Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Speakers and Headsets: Logitech X-240 2.1 Speakers Monitor: GNR 22" Keyboard: Saitek Cyborg keyboard Mouse: Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) Build Options: Fast Build (5 working days)
Total: £1946.71
Initially i was planning to buy just the components and build it myself, but i thought sod it and payed the extra for them to do it all. They are even going to overclock / tune it and handle cable-management.
Pretty good deal i think. I'm paying this over a 12 month period on a finance option.
The beast should be with me in a week, two weeks at the latest. Cant fucking wait

lol, yeah man. This is gonna bring me back to the PC big-time. One of the reasons i stopped being a PC-junkie was due to my system threatening to commit suicide everytime i even LOOKED at running something fun..
Definatly gonna check out Crysis, dunno what else yet. Will do some research (i've been so absorbed with PS3 gaming i dont really know whats new on the PC-side of things).
So yeah, Crysis. Oh and Dawn of War 2. haha. i've been wanting to play that

Oh Sweet Gods.. I bought a new rig just in time..
Huxley is gonna be released via ijji games. Now i know this was gonna happen, but noone knew when and it was just a solid rumor. ijji now have a teaser-site up and a shiney countdown timer.
Huxley is kinda like guildwars meets Warhammer 40,000.
Its an MMOFPS where players join one of two races/factions. Each race has own 'safe zone' in the form of a city. From here you can chill, chat with everyone, forms clans, party's etc. Inside the city there are shops, apartments, guild halls, and various other buildings You can also challenge others to PvP matches.
Once out of the city walls, its all-out war.
You can form up a party and go and kick the crap out of opposing forces, or go rambo-style and try to survive alone. You can also form a party with others and fight instanced battles with computer AI (a third race in the game). These battles are in the form of missions/quests.
When you begin the game, you'll stay on foot just outside your home city taking care of several easy baddies. As you progress through the game you'll move farther from the city taking a low-level train. Farther on you can have access to a high-level train which will get you different places. You may even buy your own vehicles such as motorcycles, trucks, APCs or gunships.
As you gain experience and Lv-up you acquire licenses and specializations, which can lead to you being able to operate a new vehicle or master using a new type of weapon. You increase your level through experience points received from battle
ijji's release will be the first ever english version of this game.
Man i hope they dont screw it up

Ahh I wanted to play DoW2 so bad. I'm a huge 40k fan, but my comp eats big ones.
Also: Is huxley an actual MMOFPS like Planetside? Or do you join matches? Like, are you in one, big open world? Or do you join different games?

Eh, You should have waited a bit for Intel to work around with the i7 a bit before getting it, I have heard a few bad things about it. Otherwise, Pretty sweet Rig. LOVE the keyboard. Also, I SO wanna play that game now. I wish I had a better computer. :<
Ah well, just another 6 months until I can try for a computer...
Edit: Could someone help me configure a computer?
My budget is ~$550, Seeing how even an OEM copy of W7 will cost at least $150, and I want the Home premium version of that, as I LOVE W7.
I would love it also if we could find a way to incorporate This as my Processor, This as my Motherboard, and have at least a good 3-4 gigs of RAM in there. If you find equivilant or better of the linked above though, then by all means, please link me. I am planning on using the rig for gaming, so at least make it be able to play Crisis on Medium or something. :\ I know I am asking a lot with this, but I would like a decent rig for this amount, and I know it is possible. If Nobody can find any combination of parts that fits the budget though, then I will probably just buy a stock Laptop and try to make it be able to play some of the games.
I prefer to shop by Newegg, but will shop elsewhere if it is cheaper/better reliability. Also: I need the works with this computer. I know I can get a cheap Mouse/Keyboard set for under $20 though, so you don't Have to include those in the package. I would prefer a 320 gig+ HDD, but will go to 160 gigs if needed. I know I am asking a lot for that type of budget, But if possible, stay close to the budget amount. An extra $50-100 though won't hurt too much. Cheap speakers I can find, and I have some 3.5mm headsets, so I will be able to use until I can find some speakers, even though I barely use the ones I have. xD
Keep in mind, My current computer and everything with it will be going to my little brother, so I will need everything, from Monitor to RAM. I have looked a lot myself into the matter, and I know that things will be costing less when I do build this computer, But I have been compiling parts that I might/will use in the rig when I do order the parts.

WHY DO I HAVE A PIECE OF SHIT COMPUTER?! I can't even fucking run the CS2 you gave me, Trev. AND I fucking had to wipe everything off of it. I lost EVERYTHING. God damn it. Watch it explode the next time I try to fucking turn it on. Oh wait. I don't have internet at my house anymore because I'm not allowed to. WHAT'S THE POINT OF TURNING IT ON?!

Awesomesauce. I have realized with my previous post that I am being a little too over-ambitious. I would still like to see if it is possible to get the entire rig under $650, using whatever parts nessesary to make it the best it could be. Thanks if you can do this.
My computer build I am thinking about. I know, the PSU is out of stock, but I hope that it will be in stock in 6 months. xD

Huxley sounds good, it's shame I can't run it. I only asked about the MMO thing because I'm tired of people labelling stuff like Combat Arms and Operation 7 as MMOFPS when it's not. Just because a shooter has RPG elements DOES NOT MEAN it's an MMO. In that case, Halo 3 would be considered an MMO.
Anyway. Huxley sounds awsome.
Also: Your rig is insane. I wish I could afford something like that. Oneday. maybe after a few months/years in the CG after we get situated somewhere, Liz and I can get new computers. Of course Liz will get hers first. I can wait. She REALLY needs one and her shithead parents aren't going to do anything about it.
Quote from the AMD Athlon: "Just like the Windsors rule England, AMD’s Windsor processors may rule the computer world."
HAHA someone in the marketting department is pretty clever!
Also: Just FYI to prove that what Liz and I are saying about her parents is true: MY Parents had a talk with them and agreed that they are fucking insane. My parents heardthe way they were talking about Liz and were just sickened by it. I agreed with them, it's bad. And I love you honey, but if me talking to them and telling them my mind wouldn't hurt you, I would do it now. They need to be shown what being a parent is about and take some responsibility. You are not supposed to just make children and ignore them and treat them the way they do.
Sorry to turn this thread into a rant, but I've had some time to think about it over the weekend.
We will probably be coming home this evening. I may post pictures of our trip today, if you all want to see them? I missed one of the coolest parts though, because the stupid batteries died. =(
See you this evening sweety!
